Hypothetical question:

How old are you, and what would be the upper and lower age limits for somebody you'd consider going out with?  Or if you don't want to reveal your age..just give us a general impression ...

I'm 24 and lowest would be 21/22 and oldest maybe early 30s?

(27.10.05 09:18)
I'm 26. Lower limit 24, upper limit 34.

(27.10.05 09:20)
It's already hinted on my blog that I'm 29, so I may as well admit to it! I don't think I'd go out with anyone younger than 27 or 28, because I'm an old fart and generally find men younger than that a bit wearing on a long-term basis. My upper age limit is a bit more scopey - possibly up to 40ish.

(27.10.05 09:20)
I'm 26 and when I was 25 I dallied with a 19 year old but I state I DID NOT KNOW HIS AGE AT THE TIME! Now youngest would be 22 and oldest 35 maybe.

(27.10.05 09:21)
My husband is 4 years younger than me - I really think it's about people and not ages - once you've reached a certain age then I think it's too subjective.

(27.10.05 09:22)
I am 25. I wouldn't go out with anyone over forty (unless I really liked them, once I accidentally developed a bit of a crush on a frenchman without realising he was 62...)
And I wouldn't go out with anyone under the age of, well, 27. I wouldn't go out with anyone younger than me. I've always thought that. Boys are two years behind girls anyway so 27 would make them my age.
Memorably when I was 16 I swore I would never go out with anyone under the age of thirty! What was that about?!

(27.10.05 09:23)
oh, to be fair I have accidentally got off with people a lot younger than me but I've never gone out with them. I blame booze and tattooists allowing people to get down before they're old enough.
(I was 21, he was 17, I was horrified.)

(27.10.05 09:25)
I'm 47 and would never consider anything.

(27.10.05 09:26)
Oh god, I shagged a 15 year old one time without realising how young he was. Eep. (I was 18)

(27.10.05 09:41)
I'm 22, and I'd consider about 21-30. I'm still quite young though, so age difference is still more important!

(27.10.05 09:42)
Having said that, my man in Iraq is 34 and he's lush.

(27.10.05 09:45)
Men in their thirties are TOTALLY SEXY. Or maybe I mean grown-ups are totally sexy, who knows?

(27.10.05 09:47)
Katja! 15!?!

(27.10.05 09:51)
In my defence, I didn't find out until afterwards - and HE started it!

(27.10.05 09:51)
No, I know it's not much of an excuse!

(27.10.05 09:58)
i'm 23 and i would say 23-35..i've never even kissed anyone younger than me yet alone dated them and its not even been intentional...its just the way it happened...and now i just don't tend to be attracted to younger men...

(27.10.05 09:58)
Lol. I love the HE started it part..am so gonna use that..not to get in that situation i hasten to add!

(27.10.05 11:35)
I´m in 37, one of the oldest here =(...from around 32 to 40...but you can never tell...

(27.10.05 12:17)
Well, I think it's acceptable for the old half your age plus five rule...making my youngest 19. (work out my age for yourselves)Oldest...don't know, because I'd seriously consider settling down with Nigella and vorderman. I don't think there's a real limit for me on oldest, but provided the youngest has got something between their ears, and I don't mean a winning smile, I'd consider a 19 yr old.

(27.10.05 12:38)
23. Lower ummm... the legal age of consent? Upper... maybe 35 (I cast a wide net, eh!)

(27.10.05 12:59)
I'm 22, I'd say lower 19, upper 27. I did just pluck those figures out of mid air though...

(27.10.05 13:15)
I do believe we're the same age Darkie. I have a horrible suspicion the boy I have a ridiculous crush on is about 24..which seems a bit too young. Fortunately he's highly unattainable, so it probably won't be an issue!

(27.10.05 13:27)
Hang on...if we're the same age, then the boy you have a crush on is clearly 28...not too young. And highly unattainable is not a phrase commonly linked with me. I'm easy where you're involved ;-)

(27.10.05 13:42)
Luda- I'm 29 and didn't think I'd ever go with a boy younger than me, but then I met my Osteo and he's only 23 and I love him. I do generally find older men much sexier though...

(27.10.05 13:51)
I'm 19, nearly 20 (woo!), and if I could actually meet someone he'd have to be preferably 20 or over but definately younger than 30.

(27.10.05 14:30)
I'm 24 and I guess ideal age would be about 20 to 28. But it would also depend on the person, I wouldn't avoid anybody outside of these figures if there was a connection there.

(27.10.05 15:44)
im 20, i would never go with anyone below the age of 19 or over the age of 35

(27.10.05 16:32)
I'm 26. I'd get a crush on someone in their early twenties, but they'd have to be pretty lush for me to date them. I guess I'd go up to mid-thirties...? But it all depends on the person, right?

(27.10.05 16:37)
I'm 47 and my husband is 38. My men have been younger than me since I hit the age of 27. It was just the way it went. Older men were too boring and, quite frankly, just couldn't keep up!!!!

(27.10.05 16:40)
I'm somewhere towards the late twenties (sigh) and am going out with someone the same age. (He also has the same name. We *still* get funny looks when we're introduced at parties and the like). Anyway, wouldn't go out with anyone younger than 25, or anyone older than 45.

(27.10.05 16:50)
I'm 27 and the Better Half is 23. Darkie's half your age plus five rule is one I've stuck to in the past.
Upper limits... are there any? Look at Michelle Pfeiffer - 48, 49 and still as foxy as when she was Catwoman!

(27.10.05 16:54)
Ooh, I'm late for this one but here goes;
I'm 28 and I felt wrong chasing after a 22 year old. So I wouldn't go too much younger than that, however I could move up to about 35 quite easliy. Though I'm not sure how a 35 year old woman could relate to a 28 year old bloke with the mind and body of a 14 year old boy...

(27.10.05 16:55)
probably the same as Sez, i'm 22 so about 22-30

(27.10.05 19:07)
I'm sure it'll be fine, Linesy, if we can all relax! ha ha.

(27.10.05 20:29)
Half your age,plus five?
Oh good God.
16.
I think NOT.

19? mmm I don't know... I 'spose I could go out and buy a scooter. I could afford a few pairs of Reebok classic now I'm a grown up™...

(27.10.05 21:10)
Geofrey: I'm 26 and if I wasn't already betrothed to my darling Portia, I would have an upper limit of 30 and a lower limit of 20.
Portia: I'm 26 and if I wasn't already betrothed to my darling Geofry, i would have a lower limit of 26 and an upper limit of 30.

(28.10.05 06:42)
well i have to say 22 because thats how old he is and then up to 35 i guess although i'm not keen on older men - baggage potential hige. I'm 26

(28.10.05 09:12)
I'm a week and a bit off 25 and I would never go out with someone younger than me. Men are bloody immmature as it is without making it worse by getting yourself a toy boy!! Sorry guys...
The last guy i went out with that was younger than me was a complete and utter psycho. Upper age limits, don't really have one. As long as they're not collecting their pensions. Quite worried that i've got a bit of a crush on Trevor Eve at the mo. Christ....

(28.10.05 10:13)
My god, this is like a Personals page.

(28.10.05 10:58)
i am 29. I'd be more likely to go older than younger. In my experience young boys are very dull, although they may look good. Older men can have it going on... think Piers Brosnan and Jose Mourinho.

(28.10.05 11:43)
Ooh! Trevor Eve is yummy - I'm with you on that one, TSM.

(28.10.05 11:49)
I'm taking the Fifth ...

(28.10.05 13:11)
Jose Mourinho- I am so with you on that one Roach.

(28.10.05 14:44)
Thank God, 'Katja! Thought I was on my own there for a sec...

(28.10.05 15:02)
Ooh Jose and Pierce..winning combo..

(28.10.05 16:09)
nice to know i am so 'mainstream' in my selection of fit older men

(28.10.05 16:09)
p.s one of my friends prefers BILL MURRAY over pierce brosnan. Now that is sick.

(28.10.05 16:20)
"Bill Mother Fucking Murray!"*
*stolen from the brilliant "Coffee and cigarettes
Why not? He'd make you laugh!

(28.10.05 16:46)
Actually after watching 'Lost in Translation' I had bit of a thing for Murray!

(28.10.05 17:00)
C'mon people it's "Bill Mother Fucking Murray" let's try to get things right here.
And yes I would turn for him too!

(28.10.05 17:05)
I hate Bill Murray with a passion. That fucking fucker.

(28.10.05 17:22)
Queener, at least call him a mother fucker like the RZA does, please?

(28.10.05 18:48)
That fucking mother fucker.

(28.10.05 19:24)
at the risk of Queener beating me about the head with one of Bill Murray's severed limbs, I have to admit to having a certain hankering towards him after Lost in Translation.

(28.10.05 19:50)
i was stuck between wallowing in what a beautiful film it was....and thinking he was a bit of a yucky old man in it

(28.10.05 19:52)
I didn't have to wallow in its beauty - I thought it was shite. Queener 1, Bill Murray 0.

(28.10.05 19:52)
Wasn't he great in Ghostbusters too? Eh? Oh...(Geofrey)

(28.10.05 20:37)
ok, I can go down 19 for the younger man and for older maybe 40?!?! I am not telling how old (young hopefull (;_) I am here!!!! Nop nop nop!

(29.10.05 01:06)

take a good hard look boys and girls. He'd need some fucking good knock knock jokes to make me even consider it. With yours.

(29.10.05 01:47)
But spuds, I thought you were only interested in the equipment. Have you been misleading me all this time?

(29.10.05 01:49)
Oh - and sorry Luda but I get horribly pernickety when I'm 'up'.
That's not a hypothetical question really, is it?

(29.10.05 13:27)
BillmotherfuckingMurray
Roach, I think I love you! LOL!
-the correct phrase (only works for men) should be;
"I wouldn't touch it with a stolen cock!"

(29.10.05 22:59)
I thought Lost in Translation was crap.
And he's a horrible old man.
Ick.

(29.10.05 23:14)
*high-fives Sez*

(30.10.05 01:26)
Well, there's the looks/personality debate sorted then! (Geofrey)

(31.10.05 15:43)
Wow - i found love via a Bill Murray debate. Amazing. I better put in my application for Ricky Lake...

(31.10.05 17:38)
I'm *whispers* 34. I'd acccept a decade either way but only if the wobbly bits weren't too wobbly.
